Naked swimmers break world record for biggest skinny dip

Naked swimmers break world record for biggest skinny dip

Four hundred people stripped naked and plunged into the sea off Wales on Sunday in an attempt to break the world record for the biggest skinny-dip.

The swimmers came from across the UK to brave the chill waters of Rhossili beach, on the Gower peninsula.

The existing record is believed to stand at 250 naked bathers in one location, and organisers plan to submit today’s event to adjudicators at Guinness World Records in an attempt to claim the title.

Alison Powell, an online publishing editor who came up with the idea as a way of raising money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity and the National Trust, said it had gone “brilliantly”. She said: “It was amazing. It’s such a beautiful beach.”

To break the record, the bathers had to wade into the water until it was up to their waists and stay there, shivering, for 10 minutes.

Rhossili beach was chosen for the 7am swim because it is long and reasonably hidden, sparing the blushes of the skinny-dippers and any passers-by.

One of the swimmers, Stephen Clarke, described the experience as unforgettable. Writing on the event’s Facebook page afterwards, he said: “Just back home and still grinning. What a awesome sight. It really is something that I will never forget. I spoke to lots people who were so ecstatic at taking part. As others have said, I can’t wait till next year.”

Another triumphant skinny-dipper, John Gwalter, wrote: “We did it!!! Looks like there were about 400 of us so the record is well broken.”

World’s shortest man 2011 – Junrey Balawing Smallest man in the world

World’s shortest man 2011 – Junrey Balawing Smallest man in the world

ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, Philippines – Guinness World Records may declare on Sunday a Zamboanga del Norte resident as the world’s smallest man.

From his looks and his height, it’s easy to mistake Junrey Balawig for an infant.

But on June 12, Junrey – the eldest of 4 siblings – is turning 18 years old.

His family held a simple celebration for him before his trip to a health center in Sindangan to meet with officials of Guinness World Records.

Junrey is a contender for the world’s smallest man.

“Masaya ako na si Junrey ang pinakamaliit na tao sa buong mundo. Proud kami na makikilala sa buong mundo ang anak namin,” said his mother, Concepcion.

Guinness officials weighed and measured Junrey but declined to release the figures just yet.

Doctors and other local health officials say an endocrine imbalance appears to be the cause of his condition. He also appears to lack normal growth hormones, according to Dr. Lolita Hamry, municipal health director for Sindangan.

Balawing mugged pleasantly for the cameras Saturday as Glenday and other Guinness officials visited the town to take measurements for the record books, clearly relishing being at the centre of attention.

“He can understand what you say to him, but he’s not that articulate,” Hamry said. “His mind is really that of a 1-year-old.”

Delia C. Jamisala, a nurse at the centre, described Balawing’s case as baffling. “He’s had complete immunizations,” she said. Neither his parents nor his three siblings share his condition. “Maybe it’s genetics. But (otherwise) Junrey is completely healthy.”

He is believed to be 23 inches tall, smaller than the current world’s shortest man – Khagendra Thapa Magar of Nepal – who stands 26.4 inches.

If the claims are true, Balawing will not only be the shortest living man, but the shortest living man in history, a statement from the Guinness World Records said on Saturday.

Most body piercings in a single sitting break World Record by Staysha Randall

Most body piercings in a single sitting break World Record by Staysha Randall

The tears in her eyes and the grimace on her face show it hurts.

Not once, not twice but 3,200 times.

For this was not the finishing touches of a tattoo for Las Vegas performer Staysha Randall but a bid to break the record for the most body piercings in a single sitting.

Staysha, 22, who performs in shows across the strip, was attempting to have 3,600 piercings in her back, arms and legs but decided enough was enough after 3,200 had been put in at Inktoxicated Tattoos in the Nevada city.

Helping in her bid was body piercer Bill ‘Danger’ Robinson and his piercing assistant ‘Jenn O Cide’. The record attempt is still awaiting confirmation by the Guinness Book of Records before it becomes official.

Ms Randall, who perhaps unsurprisingly lists Nine Inch Nails among her favourite bands, also includes escape acts and burlesque into her shows where she performs feats demonstrating her physical strength.

The previous record for the most body piercings in one sitting was 3,100.
