Bucks inventor Perry Watkins is aiming for a new world record – for the world’s fastest furniture!
Perry already holds the world records for both the flattest and the smallest cars.
Now this Wingrave inventor wants to the break the record for the world’s fastest furniture with Fastfood – his latest creation.
Edd China and Marek Turosk, from Leicestershire, set the current record in 2007 after managing to get a sofa to reach a top speed of 92mph.
Perry is sure he can beat this record with his turbo charged dining table.
Perry told BBC Three Counties how things are going so far: “Fastfood is about three quarters finished now. It’s a Reliant Scimitar Sabre sports car chassis with a three and a half litre V8 engine with nitrous oxide injection. It should do 0-60 in about four seconds and about 160mph top speed.”
Perry’s certainly not a rocket scientist – he says he’s not even an engineer: “I’m a shoe repairer by trade. I just started off tinkering with bicycles, mopeds, bikes, and progressed to cars.
“I’m completely self taught,” said Perry “If I don’t know how to do something I’ll just ask someone or look it up on the internet!
